CARLTON young gun Georgia Gee has been named a Round 6 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star nominee.

The young midfielder was rewarded for her role in Carlton’s 16-point win over the Brisbane Lions, where she collected 12 possessions and created plenty of drive going forward for the Blues.

Taken at pick No.12 in the 2017 NAB AFLW Draft, Gee has averaged 10.8 disposals in five matches throughout AFLW 3.0 to show her class at this level.

Arriving at the Club as an All Australian in her under-18 year, the Beaconsfield product has nearly doubled her output compared to her debut year of 2018.

A feature of Gee’s play has been her toughness around the contest: the lightly-built midfielder has surprised many with her tackling ability against the bigger bodies.

Senior coach Daniel Harford has enjoyed watching Gee show her ability this season to the AFLW world.

“Georgia is class, she is a great talent and just giving her the chance to play consistent football and impact contest which she has done really well this year,” Harford said.

“She has been handled well by our medical team and is now showing what she can do with consistent game time.

“Her tackling is very impressive, she put on six kilograms this pre-season in the gym. We still have to remember Georgia is a very young lady in terms of training age but her willingness to compete is fantastic.

“Coming into the season we knew as a team a player with Georgia’s class would need to make an impact. I was hoping she would and at this point that’s exactly what Georgia has delivered."

Gee becomes Carlton’s second NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee this season after Madison Prespakis picked up a nomination in Round 2. Gee is also the Club’s fifth NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee in its history.
