“I’M looking forward to it to be honest. I didn’t think I’d come to 50 games this quick, as a player in my third year.”

It’s been said quite frequently: Sam Petrevski-Seton’s story isn’t like any other when it comes to the other 1205 players who have pulled on the Navy Blue.

However, when he pulls on the jumper and plays football, there are few things more natural.

After being drafted with pick No.6 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, ‘Samo’ will front up for his 50th AFL game: just over two years since his first. And it's only appropriate his 50th game comes against the Pies: the team he polled three Brownlow votes against in just his seventh game.

He’ll become the second-quickest player from his draft to reach the milestone, with mature-age selection Tom Stewart achieving it for Geelong last weekend.

Looking back on his football story so far, Petrevski-Seton told Triple M’s Rush Hour that he was “definitely loving it” at Ikon Park.

“I was pretty lucky when Carlton read out my name. There were a few interstate clubs that were sniffing my name on draft night, but I was lucky enough to land here at Carlton,” Petrevski-Seton said.

“It’d my third year here now and I’m actually loving it. We’re really growing a good, strong foundation at the Club.

“We started pretty slow, but you can’t question the effort in the last six weeks in pretty much every game except last week.”

Dubbed the Halls Creek Cowboy (“it runs through the family blood”), Petrevski-Seton isn’t alone, with five others from his home also on AFL lists.

After being the first one three years ago, he’s since been joined by Cedric Cox (Brisbane Lions), Irving Mosquito (Essendon), Shane McAdam (Adelaide) and Francis Watson (West Coast).

Petrevski-Seton credited a fellow West Australian as a key figure behind his breakout game against the Western Bulldogs three weeks ago.

“I think me and Patty Cripps had something going on there in the warm-up with big Matty Kreuzer,” he said.

“I think we’ll try that pre-game routine every week.”

In the chat with James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless, Petrevski-Seton also speaks of:

  • His pathway from a town of 1200 people to playing in front of 60,000 Carlton members;
  • His Macedonian heritage;
  • Learning how to speak English;
  • His history of bull-riding;
  • Driving 14 hours to play footy.
