“FAR out, it felt really good.”
Ollie Florent was one of the Blues’ best in a feel-good win on Saturday night against the Western Bulldogs.
On the front foot all night, Florent finished the night with 28 disposals and 11 marks, ensuring he got to celebrate his second win in Navy Blue since joining the Club.
Florent couldn’t hide his excitement when speaking in the rooms post-match, detailing what it meant to the group and wider Club after such a big week.
“When the siren went and all the boys fought all the way to the end, it felt like we’ve put in the work and hopefully we can get more results,” Florent said.
“The great thing about football is you get to play again next week. It’s been a while since we won our last game, so this one feels really sweet. We’ve been putting in so much hard work.
“We wanted to show our blue collar acts, all the stuff that isn’t goals or disposals. It’s tackles, it’s pressure. We wanted to energise the crowd by doing that, and the crowd really got behind us tonight.”
One player who Florent felt embodied ‘the tough stuff’ was Lachie Cowan, with the 21-year-old defender putting in one of the most complete performances of his career to date.
“He’s been great, both tonight and last week.
“When he’s up and about, he’s winning his contests and he looks so hard to get past. He was unreal, so many quality efforts - I’m so happy for him.”
Florent spoke of bringing the crowd along for the ride, with just shy of 40,000 people flocking to Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
The noise in the stands all throughout the night, and particularly in the final term, said it all.
“It was [loud]… it’s so nice being on that side of it!
“When we were coming in the last, we put in a really good performance: hopefully we can keep rallying them and take this form for the rest of the year.”
