Experienced AFLW defender Kiara Bischa has signed to Carlton’s AFLW side as an inactive player replacement ahead of the 2026 season, after Breann Harrington was placed on the inactive list.

Arriving from the Gold Coast Suns, where she played 18 games across two seasons, Bischa has proven herself at the elite level.

Bischa played every game in 2025 before leaving the club at the end of that season where she was an Academy graduate.

Known for her strong two-way game, she is equally capable as a lockdown or play-making defender, with clean hands, fierce competitiveness, and second efforts at contests being a hallmark of her game.

The 21-year-old reunites with a few familiar faces and former teammates, Tara Bohanna, Claudia Whitfort and Lauren Bella.

AFLW Senior Coach Mathew Buck said Bischa is the ultimate competitor who’s competitive edge will further add to the group.

“Kiara is an exciting player and a modern-style defender who is competitive in the air, on the ground and can also generate offensively,” Buck said.

“Kiara is always trying to find ways to continue to develop and improve her game.  She is a true professional from nutrition to training and recovery, which we hold highly here at the Blues.

“She will bring a great level energy to the side and is a similar age to a lot of the players and we know Kiara will slot seamlessly into our group.

“We are excited to welcome her to IKON Park and can’t wait to see what she can produce in the Navy Blue.”
