Carlton forward and goal celebration expert Sophie McKay will remain at IKON Park until at least the end of 2027.

A true legacy at the Carlton Football Club, McKay was drafted by Carlton in 2024 as a father-daughter selection with pick No. 17.

With 15 games under her belt, starring in her first final series collecting 19 disposals and scoring two goals in the first round, McKay has begun etching her own story into the Navy Blue history, with her tenacity and fierceness.

McKay is an eye-catching player who can burst out of contests with her speed and dash. Under the tutelage of her sister and captain Abbie, as well as experienced forward Tara Bohanna, McKay has truly grown to be a powerful player at the highest level.

In just her debut season last year McKay kicked 18 goals, earning the title of Carlton’s leading goal kicker in 2025 and giving her plenty of chances to put on a show for the crowd with her comedic goal celebrations.

General Manager of Football Chris Davies said McKay has already done great things for the AFLW in just in her first season.

“Sophie has already shown she can have a significant impact at AFLW level, and we’re excited by what she can become in the coming years,” Davies said.

“Her connection to the football club is special, and she embodies the values we want driving this program forward into the future.

“Sophie loves a celebration, but what people shouldn’t miss is how she celebrates the successes of her teammates.

“The Club is proud of what Sophie has already achieved and cannot wait to see what she can do in the Navy Blue in the coming seasons.”
