CARLTON has made one change to the team to take on GWS on Saturday.

Naming a largely settled side for the trip to Sydney, the Blues have rewarded recent VFL form with the return of the running man.

Matthew Cottrell will play his third game of the season, after featuring in games against Fremantle and St Kilda earlier in the campaign.

Cottrell was the standout performer for the Carlton Reserves before the bye, having 19 disposals and two goals against Essendon leading into last week’s break to back up a 26-disposal, one-goal showing against Geelong the week prior.

He returns to the side in place of Flynn Young, who has been omitted.

Lachie Fogarty, Cooper Lord and Flynn Riley have been named as emergencies.

In the absence of Jacob Weitering, former Giants Nick Haynes and Wade Derksen will take on key defensive roles alongside Harry Dean, with Derksen and Dean two of six Blues with less than 15 games of AFL experience leading into Saturday evening.

The game kicks off at 4:15pm AEST.
