DAMIAN Truslove speaks on the performances of every AFL-listed Blue in their Round 16 win against Box Hill.
6. Zac Williams
23 disposals, 11 intercepts, four rebound 50s
Zac Williams played across half-back and got up the ground a bit to give us drive. It was a really strong performance from Zac on the back of strong leadership: his contest method and defence positioning were very good.
8. Lachie Fogarty
32 disposals, seven clearances, six inside 50s
‘Fog’ played in the midfield this week and found plenty of the ball. He was clean, he helped set up our structures around stoppages and was influential in us having a huge win at centre bounces where we were +14 for the day.
13. Blake Acres
28 disposals, five clearances
Blake played as an inside mid this week and found plenty of the ball. He was a strong leader on the day and he helped us play in different modes with our ball movement, while his decisions to support our defence were very good.
16. Ben Camporeale
23 disposals, seven tackles, five clearances
Benny Campo played in the midfield, and he was hard and tough around the stoppages. He was another midfielder that was really influential at centre bounce and his pressure around the source was excellent and he fought hard for four quarters.
21. Lucas Camporeale
20 disposals, three marks, three intercepts
Lucas played on the wing as well, he held good width on the wing and also worked back hard to support our defence. He set up really well at stoppages and continues to work on his skill execution.
25. Liam Reidy
15 disposals, 22 hitouts, seven clearances, two goals
Reidy had an outstanding first game back after a long injury break. He gave us first use particularly at centre bounce and his follow-up around stoppages was aggressive. He played big and he led the way with his voice and leadership.
28. Harry Charleson
21 disposals, seven intercepts, four inside 50s
‘Gaz’ played across halfback as well. He’s in good form, playing consistent footy. He's finding plenty of the ball, giving us plenty of drive and changing angles off half-back: his defence and contest method continues to improve with hard work.
31. Campbell Chesser
15 disposals, six marks, four intercepts
Chesser played on the wing and ran hard defensively to support our defence, but also held really good shape on the outside of contest. He also showed some improvement with his ability to drive legs and power to go forward.
37. Jordan Boyd
22 disposals, seven inside 50s, six marks
‘Boydy’ played across half-back, he gave us a lot of drive and bounce off halfback. He was a good leader on the day and halved many critical contests.
40. Hudson O’Keeffe
11 disposals, two goals, 11 hitouts
‘Skull’ played as a key forward and second ruck and his ruck craft was really strong, giving us good territory from stoppages. As a key forward, he provided an outlet for us when we were exiting our backline and competed hard at all his aerial contests.
42. Adam Saad
19 disposals, six marks, five intercepts
‘Saady’ was very similar to 'Boydy' and Zac Williams - the three of them gave us plenty of bounce off half-back. His experience was influential, particularly in the last quarter when the game got close. He gave away a lot of height on his opponent and managed to beat taller opponents on the day.
43. Ashton Moir
Six disposals, two tackles, two marks
Ash played predominantly as a key forward and he provided us an option when we went into our forward 50. His defensive pressure has improved, and he continues to work on his leading patterns.
45. Flynn Young
15 disposals, three goals, six inside 50s
Flynn Young played across half-forward and he got up the ground to support our defence, then got dangerous running back towards goal. He hit the scoreboard with three goals, while his pressure in and around contests in our forward 50 has improved.
