MILESTONE wins, first goals and a Commonwealth Games-inspired celebration.

Carlton's players enjoyed the win on Saturday night against the dual reigning premiers, highlighting the performances of their teammates and the passion from the fans in the crowd in a memorable victory.

As attention now turns to St Kilda on Sunday night, here's what the Blues players had to say.

Patrick Cripps on 250 games in Navy Blue: “The boys were huge. We have a high level of respect for Brisbane, we know they can score heavily. I don’t know if I’ve kicked 154 points in my time at the Blues… we’ve been building confidence and trying to take the game on a bit more. It all starts with our defence. It was an awesome game and the crowd was alive.”

Nick Haynes on his 250th AFL game: “Myself and ‘Crippa’ have daughters the same age that get along at the Club, so to run out with my two kids and having my family there is something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. To share it with ‘Crippa’, a Club legend and AFL legend, makes it even more special.”

Sam Walsh: “If we keep playing to our strengths, people are going to keep wanting to come watch us. We’ve still got three important games coming up. It was obviously a big game for us, so to get the result was unbelievable and the atmosphere was so good.”

Lewis Young: “It’s been great to get an opportunity in the team. I’m taking what I can, getting pushed around forward, back and in the ruck every two minutes. I’m enjoying it and having a good time."

Will Hayward on his celebration with Matthew Cottrell: “Comm Games walk. It was planned about five minutes before we went out, and then after we did it, I just thought ‘God, I hope we win’.”

Harry Dean on his first goal: “I just started running. I think I got the boys tired and they kicked three goals in a row. I’ve got no idea why I was down there, I saw the chain and thought I might get onto it. Jagga handball it, I went to find an option, then I was thinking 'chanana', then I bellied a helicopter that bent back. I didn’t know what to do.”

Brodie Kemp on a five-goal performance: “A bit of relief, to be honest. The funny thing is I spent the least amount of time on my goalkicking than I have all year, and I think sometimes less is more. It’s frustrating when you put so much work into your game and for a large part of the last month or two, it hasn’t worked. It’s been super frustrating. [Saturday night] was a night I’ve been wanting and knowing I’m capable of. I’m very relieved.”

Ollie Florent on the pre-match focus: “We were very proactive in how we wanted to move the football and defend. The more we doubled down on that, the more confidence we got out of playing our way. We’re more predictable to each other, we’ve put in a lot of hours on the track… The more we expose that and the more we play together, the more we’re going to have belief in the system.”

Marc Pittonet on the group’s energy: “We’ve tried to drive the spirit in the last couple of months, it really came to the fore. As you saw when ‘Deany’ kicked that goal, everyone went nuts. It’s one of the loudest moments I’ve heard… The crowd has jumped on and we’ve got unbelievable fans - once we get them involved and give them something to cheer for, you feel 10 feet tall out there.”
