CARLTON co-vice captain Jacob Weitering will make his return to football this weekend when he features for the Carlton Reserves.

Sidelined since Round 12 due to calf injuries, AFL Interim Coach Josh Fraser confirmed that Weitering would get minutes in the VFL.

Speaking to media on Friday morning, Fraser said the decision around Weitering’s return came on the back of his commitment to his rehab.

“He’ll be available to play minutes in the VFL. With all these situations, it’s always done with what’s best for the player in mind,” Fraser said.

“‘Weiters’ has done an enormous job with his rehab, he really has. All our Carlton supporters should hear the work that he’s put in to get himself back to playing.

“He’s missed a fairly decent amount of time, and he has worked incredibly hard to get back. Logically, this is the right progression for him to get minutes at VFL level.”
