Carlton forward Mitch McGovern will continue at the Blues in 2027 after signing a one-year extension.
The news is on the back of a fantastic season for the 31-year-old, who has played every game this year.
After being shifted into a new role up forward, McGovern’s 33 goals for the season is a career-best, kicking multiple goals on 13 occasions.
In a year of milestones, McGovern reached his 100th game for Carlton in Round 3, earning his name on the No.11 locker at IKON Park, while also playing his 150th AFL game in Gather Round this year.
In a career that has seen him play both ends of the ground since he arrived at the Blues at the end of 2018, McGovern's forward craft and selfless work have made him a coaches' favourite in 2026, repeatedly putting the team's needs above his own reward on the scoreboard.
He has also become a driving force in the Club's community work, both as an ambassador of Carlton Respects and taking a leading role in organising the player-led Good Friday Appeal action which raised over $11k this year alone.
"Mitch has been one of our most consistent performers this year, and what he's done adapting to a new role up forward speaks to his footy smarts and competitiveness," GM of Football Chris Davies said.
"He's produced arguably his best season in front of goal, but it's the experience and guidance he offers on field that tells you everything about the standard he holds himself to.
"An excellent Club person, what he gives to the Blues goes well beyond the field, shown through his character and his outstanding community work. We're pleased he'll be part of what we're building here for another season."
