Carlton defender Hariet Cordner will remain in the Navy Blue until at least the end of 2028 after signing a contract extension.
A significant player for the Blues, Cordner, often referred to as a brick wall down back, is a tough defender who puts it all on the line.
Backing up a stellar season last year, Cordner is again leading the league in average intercept possessions (10.6) and intercept marks (3.6) and coming second in marks (6.4).
A true rock down back, Cordner had 33 intercept possession in just two games, against ladder leader North Melbourne (Round 5) and Collingwood (Round 4).
In her 10th season, Cordner last year led Carlton and the competition in intercept marks (four per game) and intercept possessions (10), proving her aerial dominance.
A notable family name in AFL and AFLW history, Cordner has created her own legacy in the sport, earning her spot in the 2025 All-Australian team and finishing second place in Carlton’s AFLW Best and Fairest last year.
AFLW Senior Coach Mathew Buck said Cordner is the epitome of a true professional.
“Harriet’s work ethic sets the standard for the rest of the team. She is relentless in her preparation and is constantly looking for ways to refine her craft and elevate her game,” Buck said.
“Her energy around the Club is infectious. She brings a genuine positivity every day and has an incredible ability to lift those around her, week in and week out.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Harriet recommit to the Club and can’t wait to see what she continues to produce in 2026 and beyond.”
