CARLTON will aim for two straight wins to finish off the season, when it makes the trip down the highway to face Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday at 1.45pm.

The match will provide a curtain-raiser to what is set to be an entertaining clash in the AFL between the Blues and the Cats, which kicks off at 4.45pm.

Last time they met:

The Cats are only one of two teams that the Blues will face twice this season.

Geelong prevailed by seven points when these two teams last met at Ikon Park in Round 8.

The close contest provided fans with one of the best games of the season, with Nicola Stevens slotting two goals and Courteney Bromage named as the best-on-ground after laying a game-high 12 tackles.

Player to watch: Abbie McKay 

McKay was Carlton’s match-winner against Darebin last weekend, kicking both of the Blues’ fourth-quarter goals to seal their third victory of the season.

The 18-year-old backed this up with 13 disposals, two marks and four tackles.

When the Blues last played the Cats, McKay led the way with a game-high 24 disposals.

Opposition to watch: Sophie Van De Huevel  

Van De Huevel was taken with pick No. 2 in the NAB AFL Women’s Draft last year and has shown what she is capable of in the VFLW this season.

The 18-year-old kicked had 18 disposal and a goal in a best-on-ground performance in Geelong’s ‘s 46-point over Williamstown last week. 

She is averaging 10.1 disposals and has kicked seven goals for the year from nine games.

“Geelong have been travelling nicely throughout the season. Last time we met, we just lost in the dying minutes of the game, unfortunately.

“We’re hoping to be competitive again this week and obviously coming off a win on the weekend, we’re feeling good about ourselves. Hopefully we can get a win at GMHBA Stadium.”
