Reclink Australia is a charitable organisation whose mission is to provide sporting, social and arts activities to enhance the lives of people experiencing disadvantage. One of their seasonal team sports include their famous grass-roots football fixture - in which almost 1000 people take part from April to August each year.
Last week, the Carlton Football Club hosted Reclink’s annual training day at Visy Park with injured ruckman Shaun Hampson and midfielder Ed Curnow both involved in the training session.
“Reclink is a great organisation because it provides a range of structured and informal programs and activities to an otherwise largely inactive population group,” Hampson said.
“Being an elite athlete allows me to regularly experience the beneficial effects that frequent exercise can have on both physical and mental health. I think it is important for everyone to experience these highs in order to live a happier and healthier life.”

Shaun Hampson addresses participants at last week’s Reclink training day.
Reclink will be involved in the pre-match guard of honour this Saturday night. They have also been allocated the junior mascot experience and have been provided with a team signed guernsey that has been auctioned off through the Carlton auction site this week, with all funds raised forwarded onto Reclink.
The Carlton Football Club also hosted the inaugural “Beat the Blues” fun run around Princes Park earlier this year, which involved Carlton Legend Anthony Koutoufides, and will play host to this Sunday’s Frank Galbally Cup Fundraiser match between Melbourne’s barristers and solicitors.
