NEW Blue Mitch McGovern says he has been pleased with the honest approach of senior coach Brendon Bolton.

After settling in with the other first-to-fourth year players and coaching staff over past two weeks at his new turf at Ikon Park, the 24-year-old said he had already developed some strong connections.

In particular, McGovern said despite only being at Carlton for a couple of weeks, he had forged a strong relationship with his new coach.

“He’s been really good,” McGovern told The Breakfast Club on RSN this morning.

“I had dinner and caught up with him last week. He’s been fantastic already, in my short couple of weeks at the Club.

“He’s very open and honest with everything he wants from you and what he expects which is perfect. There are no grey areas from him.”

McGovern made the move from the Crows to Ikon Park during the 2018 trade period.

Enticed by the exciting young list and blockbuster games against traditional rivals, the 24-year-old said he was also excited by Bolton’s obvious passion for the Club.

“The one thing that I’ve noticed from him is he is so passionate about this footy club and us boys here and wanting us to get better, so I think he’s the right man for the job,” he said.

"He’s definitely on our side with everything that we’re doing so I’m very excited with the direction that the club is going.”
