FOUR Blues have been recognised for gutsy performances against Hawthorn.

Carlton was well represented in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award votes for Round 6, making up four of the seven players named.

Ruckman Matthew Kreuzer was awarded three votes for his performance against the Hawks, behind Jaeger O’Meara (10 votes), Liam Shiels (eight votes) and James Sicily (five votes).

Despite the five-point defeat, Kreuzer had a dominant first half before finishing the game with 30 hitouts, nine clearances and a goal.

Patrick Cripps featured with three votes for his 28-disposal performance, marking a six consecutive week named in the votes.

Liam Jones and Ed Curnow also featured with one vote each for their individual performances.

Jones was once again a key pillar in defence, taking a team-high 10 marks (four contested) and maintaining composure in the backline with injuries to Kade Simpson and Nic Newman.

Curnow was influential up forward with 24 disposals, 11 score involvements and a last-quarter goal when the pressure was on.

This last round of votes sees skipper Patrick Cripps retain his spot at the top of 2019 AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award leaderboard.
