NORTHERN Blues captain Tom Wilson has re-signed for the 2020 VFL season.

A three-time Laurie Hill Trophy winner, Wilson will extend his tenure at the Club to a tenth season after debuting back in 2011.

With 110 games under his belt for the Blues, Wilson has emerged as the ever-present heart and soul of the football club.

Crowned as the Club’s best and fairest in 2014, 2016 and 2018, Wilson – the last remaining player to represent the Northern Bullants – is universally admired across Preston City Oval, Ikon Park and the VFL itself.

A representative of the VFL Team of the Year in 2016, Wilson is also a Life Member of the Northern Blues and has emerged as one of the standout midfielders in the competition.

Despite an ACL injury curtailing his 2019 campaign in April, Wilson is determined to attack next season with all guns blazing as the first player to recommit to the Club for next year.

Senior Coach Josh Fraser said the Club was delighted to retain the leader for another season.

“Tommy has lived and breathed this club and its values for a decade and he’s one of the most well-respected players in the competition,” Fraser said.

“He is someone who is admired by his players, coaches and opponents and despite his injury this year, we saw just how committed he is to his teammates and his football club.

“‘Willo’ has lived the Ants’ Spirit long before even I arrived at the Club: we’re thrilled that he’ll be going around again next year.”
