CARLTON will take on Fremantle in its first Marsh Community Series clash on Saturday night.

The game will take place in Mandurah and will begin at 4:10pm AWST (7:10pm AEDT). It will be broadcast on FOX Footy and Kayo Sports, as well as for AFL Live Pass subscribers on the AFL app.

It will be Carlton’s chance to show off some of their off-season recruits as well as the team’s progress during pre-season.

Game in focus:

It’s Carlton first official hitout for 2020, as preparations heat up for Round 1 which is just 19 days away.

It’ll be a return to Mandurah for the first time in five years, when the Blues played a practice match against West Coast in 2015. Of course, Carlton has happy memories of its recent trip to Perth after Marc Murphy’s heroics last year.

While Murphy is being managed for the opening practice match of the year, it’ll be a sight for sore eyes seeing the experienced Sam Docherty and Matthew Kreuzer running around in Navy Blue.

Of course, the game will be the biggest chance yet for the squad of 26 to fine-tune their craft before the season proper. Expect to see a number of keen Blues put their hands up, with selection for spots as hot as ever.

What to watch:

Off-season recruit Jack Martin will pull on the Navy Blue for the first time this weekend in his home state of Western Australia.

With the Navy Blue faithful thrilled by his acquisition, tonight’s game presents the first glimpse of Martin at his new club.

He won’t be alone, with fellow recruits Jack Newnes, Sam Philp and Marc Pittonet also making the trip west, as well as train-on player Callum Moore.

Blue view:

It’ll be hard for eyes not to be on the No.15 in Navy Blue.

For the first time in two years, Docherty will play in his first official hitout after getting through last week’s practice match with Collingwood unscathed.

It’s no surprise that Bluebaggers - and the football world in general - are itching to see the defensive general back out on the field.
