THE CARLTON Football Club is delighted to announce Katie Harrison has signed on as a rookie for the 2020 AFLW season.

Harrison, a development player in the 2017 Australian Rugby Sevens side, follows in the footsteps of fellow converts Chloe Dalton and Brooke Walker who joined the Blues last season and played in the Club’s maiden AFLW Grand Final.

The 26-year-old will make the move from Manly to Melbourne in time for the start of pre-season training.

Harrison is a naturally gifted athlete with elite speed and endurance, which will complement the current playing list at Carlton.

Carlton General Manager of Women’s Football Ash Brown said the Club was thrilled to have Harrison on board for season 2020.

“Katie is an outstanding young individual who is a very driven athlete and when you combine that with her natural athletic ability, we have a great prospect on our hands,” Brown said.

“Her speed and endurance will be a welcome addition to our current playing group. Katie will also be great for us off the field, with her experience around the Australian Rugby Sevens group and the professionalism required to represent Australia.

“We welcome Katie to the Club and look forward to having her in the Navy Blue for the upcoming AFLW season.”

Harrison said she can’t wait to get down to Melbourne and meet her new teammates.

“The challenge of AFLW excites me,” Harrison said.

“I’ve been training with the Sydney University women’s team and I’m absolutely loving it.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season with Harf and the girls, and to just learn as much as I can off my teammates and coaches.”
