IT’S A clash which has the potential to shape the AFLW season.

It’s The Game Changers will head to the Northern Territory to take on Melbourne in a clash pitting second against third on the Conference B ladder.

With both teams taking winning form into this game and hitting form at the right time of year, it could prove to be one of the games of the season.

It’ll be the first time the two teams have met since the penultimate round of the 2018 season.

The game in focus:

As Carlton looks for its first win against Melbourne, it looks as though the game will be decided in a battle of offence and defence.

By a long way, the Demons have the best defence in the competition in terms of points conceded: opposition teams have mustered just 84 points against them from five games.

If any team is going to break Melbourne down, however, it’s going to be Carlton.

With the firepower in attack of Tayla Harris, Nicola Stevens and Darcy Vescio as well as their goalkicking spread, expect the Blues to take the game to Melbourne from the off.

Both sides have won their games in different ways so far this season. A must-see contest looms.

What to watch:

There could be an all-star battle in the offing.

This season, Darcy Vescio has found herself combining her familiar role up forward with hitting the wings and getting involved in the play up the ground.

Meanwhile, her former Darebin Falcons teammate and Melbourne gun Daisy Pearce hasn’t missed a beat with more time across half back.

Could we see Pearce versus Vescio? What a match-up it would be.

Blue view:

It will be an interesting homecoming for Gab Pound.

With the match presenting just the second time Carlton has played for premiership points in Alice Springs (AFL or AFLW), the 25-year-old returns to her original home.

While the Round 6 clash won’t be played with fans in attendance, the opportunity to play in the Top End will be a memorable experience nonetheless for Carlton’s No.6.
