OVERVIEW

Inaugural Game Changer Lauren Brazzale played a valuable role for Carlton in 2020.

Playing all seven games for the Blues over the course of the season, Brazzale was a utility for Daniel Harford’s side, having an impact between the arcs.

It was Brazzale’s most consistent season to date, playing every game for the first time since the opening season of 2017.

The hard-running, penetrating Blue hit her straps in the second half of the season, providing valuable experience to a Carlton side which blooded so much youth during the season.

BEST PERFORMANCE

The Round 6 trip to Alice Springs presented an opportunity for a number of Blues to step up against quality opposition.

Just like she did in last year’s preliminary final, Brazzale did just that.

Collecting 12 disposals, Brazzale also contributed four tackles while her strong cameo was capped off in the final term.

Receiving the ball between half back and wing, Brazzale burst away, taking four bounces and tumbling the ball down to Brooke Walker. The forward did the rest, with Carlton sealing a famous win in the Red Centre.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

It’s become a trademark of Brazzale in her four seasons in Navy Blue: her pace and penetrating kick.

She brought those strengths to the table in the Round 3 trip to Whitten Oval.

With the Blues hoping to bounce back from disappointment the previous week, Brazzale got her side off to the best possible start.

Receiving the handball from Nicola Stevens, Brazzale went full steam ahead at the goalface, launching one from 50 and bouncing it home for an outstanding goal.
