OVERVIEW

In her second season in the Navy Blue, utility Jess Edwards added stability and class when given the opportunity.

Edwards got her chance in Round 3, coming in for Joanne Doonan to strengthen the Blues’ backline against the Western Bulldogs and did not miss a game for the remainder of the season.

The 29-year-old also showed great versatility, often switching roles to provide extra grunt in the forward line or perform a negating role in midfield.

BEST PERFORMANCE:

Edwards did not miss the opportunity to show her skill in the 2019 Grand Final rematch.

With the Blues’ holding momentum from their strong win against the Bulldogs in Round 3, Edwards was looking to prove a point against the Crows.

Playing off the half back line, Edwards produced one of her strongest performances of the season in her home state, finishing with 11 disposals and showing her toughness by gathering six contested possessions.

The Game Changer was also able to help the Blues drive forward with two inside 50s and one score assist.

To make it even sweeter, the South Australian native was able to celebrate the win with friends and family following the game.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT:

The hard work pays off.

Following a strong pre-season, Edwards' persistence and dedication on the training track finally paid off when she earned a call-up to the team in Round 3.

After that, there was no turning back, as the versatile Blue showed everyone that she deserved the spot on the field.
