The Carlton Football Club is pleased to announce Hawthorn premiership player Michael Osborne has been appointed as the Club’s new Development Coach.

Osborne retired from AFL this season after playing 168 games for Hawthorn since 2001, including in the 2008 premiership. He also represented Australia in the 2008 International Rules Series.
Carlton coach Mick Malthouse says Osborne is a terrific acquisition for the Club.

“Michael has played in a premiership side and he knows what it’s like to win – he also knows the work ethic you need to adopt to win,” Malthouse said.

“He knows what it’s like to be cut from a list and rejoin a list. He also knows what it’s like to play with injury and recover from injury – so Michael will be a great resource for our players.

“When you couple Michael with Brad Green, who has also recently retired from football, and then you look at the experience within the rest of the coaching group, it’s a really fantastic balance for our coaching panel.”

Osborne’s appointment completes Carlton’s coaching line-up for Season 2014.
