Carlton speedster Eddie Betts has returned home from a week of high altitude training in Arizona.

A new father to four week old Lewis Betts, Eddie was not expected to attend the camp at all.

“I decided at the last minute to go to Arizona, but we made the decision to only stay for one week so that I could come home to support my fiancé and see my little boy,” he said.

“The Club was really good about it about it and said that the first week would be the toughest anyway, so I am glad I got through it,” he said.

Speaking exclusively to CFC TV Eddie said new coach Mick Malthouse lead from the front of the pack on the team’s hikes up Mount Humphreys and through the Grand Canyon.

“He was definitely up the front showing us the way and would let anyone overtake him,” he said.

Eddie will complete a block of training back at VISY Park before his teammates return to Melbourne next week.

Carlton will resume their pre-season training as a team on Monday December 3.
