ESSENDON vs CARLTON
Saturday July 23rd, 2011
MCG at 7:10pm

In round 18 the Blues will play another traditional rival - Essendon. The two teams famously played out a draw earlier in the season and both find themselves pushing for a placing higher up the ladder as finals approach.

This match is being played for the Madden Cup in honour of Simon and Justin Madden who both played over 300 games of AFL football. The brothers commenced together at Essendon before Justin moved to Carlton and was a member of the Blues 1987 and 1995 Premiership teams, while Simon remained with the Bombers and was a member of their 1984 & 1985 premiership teams. The Madden Cup will be presented to the captain of the winning team at the end of the game on Saturday night.
