The World Game came to Visy Park on Monday afternoon when four of Australia's best soccer players took part in a promotion for Carlton's major partner Hyundai.

A-League stars Nicky Carle (Sydney FC), Matt Ryan (Central Coast Mariners), Michael Marrone (Melbourne Heart FC) and Harry Kewell (Melbourne Victory), all members of the Socceroos squad, were all presented with Carlton guernseys by Blues defender Lachie Henderson.

Henderson described meeting the Australian representatives, in particular Kewell, as a thrill.

“I don’t get to too many A-League games, but, from what I’ve seen, it’s a really impressive competition. It was great meeting the boys and having a chat about how they go about preparing for a match, especially a World Cup qualifier.

“Harry has been a star for so long. Who will ever forget that game against Croatia at the 2006 World Cup? But he was a really nice guy and he wished me and the boys good luck for the upcoming season,” Henderson said.

The Socceroos representatives were at Visy Park promoting Hyundai’s new Veloster coupe ahead of Wednesday night’s World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia at AAMI Park.
