Carlton has entered into an agreement with the AFL that will see the Blues play a home game at the Gold Coast Stadium in 2009 and 2010.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to continue to build the Carlton Football Club. Carlton has a great supporter base across Australia and this will further strengthen the growth of the club,” said Carlton CEO Greg Swann.

While the AFL fixture for 2009 is yet to be finalised Carlton’s home game on the Gold Coast will be against an interstate club.

“Importantly Victorian members will continue to have access to 11 games in Melbourne during 2009 and 2010 with free entry to one designated away game each year to compensate for a home game being played on the Gold Coast,” Swann confirmed.

“It really is a fantastic result for Carlton as we provide access to a game in a new market where we have good support and hopefully will attract even more while not disadvantaging our tremendous membership and supporter base in our local area. Plus of course the Carlton name and image will be used to help the development and promotion of our game,” Swann added.
