THREE Blues have polled in the AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award votes for strong performances against the Tigers in Round 4.
Bluebaggers won’t be surprised to see Darcy Vescio’s named included in the count, the inaugural Blue and 2021 leader collecting seven votes for her standout performance.
Vescio was impossible to ignore in her brilliance up forward: she slotted three of her own goals from five score involvements and six marks, including a seemingly impossible grab in the first half of the match.
Senior coach Daniel Harford was first to praise Vescio for her influence on Saturday, awarding the forward the ever elusive ‘Chocolate Frog’ award following the match.
Co-captain Kerryn Harrington was the second Blue to feature in the week’s count, the stoic defender acknowledged as pivotal to Carlton’s win at home with four votes.
Harrington’s class and leadership despite a string of Richmond goals proved influential in Carlton’s ability to turn around what had been a 22-point deficit.
Madison Prespakis was once again acknowledged for her tireless efforts with three votes, making this her fourth consecutive week to feature in the count.
Prespakis has been undeniable in her consistency over the opening four rounds of her third AFLW season, the 2020 league MVP looked confident as ever with 19 disposals and two goals on Saturday.
Prespakis now sits at No.12 for the AFLCA votes overall: check out the rest of the votes here.
