THE team is in for the VFLW Blues’ first clash of the 2021 season. 

Carlton will be bolstered by AFLW-listed players in every line on Sunday afternoon, with Winnie Laing, Charlotte Hammans and Paige Trudgeon featuring in the line-up.

Ally Bild will get her first run of the season proper as captain on Saturday afternoon, named at half back for the clash alongside co-captain Jen Lew and Hammans.

Millie Klingbeil has been named in the centre after an impressive performance in Saturday’s practice match with the Bulldogs, touted as the Blues’ most consistent performer through the centre in the win.

Entrusted with the key defensive shutdown role is Jasmine Ware after and two impressive practice match performances in her first appearances in Navy Blue.

The 2021 leadership group will be fully represented at Ikon Park, with Akayla Peterson, Elsa Mangan and Esther Honybun named for the Round 1 hitout.

The VFLW Blues will have the home ground advantage in the opening round with Carlton set to take on the Casey Demons at Ikon Park on Saturday 27 February at 2.00pm.

Crowds will be permitted at all Round 1 matches with a live stream available on VFLW channels for those not attending.
