JACK Martin will be available for selection this Thursday night, while it’s positive news on the injury front for Jack Silvagni.

Martin missed last week’s season opener due to a calf niggle, while Silvagni came from the ground at half time following an injury to his shoulder.

Director of High Performance Andrew Russell confirmed Martin trained fully and was available for the Round 2 encounter against Collingwood, with Zac Williams also to return after being suspended for Round 1.

He also said the outlook on Silvagni was better than first anticipated.

“He settled down better than we thought he would at the time, which is great,” Russell said.

“He was pretty sore at the time, he definitely couldn’t continue playing.

“We think that he’ll probably miss a week.”

Russell also provided updates on Caleb Marchbank (reconditioning), Mitch McGovern (back tightness) and Sam Philp (hip).

The trio, who are yet to feature in any matches this year, are likely to all be available from next weekend — whether that will be at AFL or VFL level is yet to be determined.

“We’re really happy with Mitch and his last four or five days. He won’t be available for AFL selection this week but he’ll be available next week,” he said.

“Marchbank has had another great week on the training track and a full session today. He’s getting really close to playing.

“‘Philpy’ has had another good week. The VFL doesn’t have a game this week: if they did, he would play."
