THE CARLTON Football Club is delighted to announce that its 2021 Pride guernsey auction has raised $4,444.71, with the proceeds to be split equally between Minus18 and Carlton Pride.

The guernsey was worn by the Game Changers against the Western Bulldogs in Round 2 for the Club’s Pride Game – an annual celebration for the LGBTIQ+ community, celebrating inclusiveness and a welcoming environment for all, no matter their sexual orientation.

Minus18 is a charity for LGBTIQ+ youth in Australia that works to create social change and mobilise community support through youth-driven events, workshops, education resources and campaigns that are used across Australia.

Carlton Pride is the official LGBTIQ+ supporter group of the Club. They work to create a positive and supportive environment for all members of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Inaugural Game Changer Darcy Vescio led the guernsey design process, focusing on the theme of growth.

Building upon last year’s guernsey, which was centred around the themes of coming together and being stronger through shared values, the Club’s 2021 design featured growth rings with the jumper being about the strengthening of ties, growing together, using your voice and acknowledging contribution.

Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said the Club was proud to continue to be involved in the Pride Game and to contribute to two worthy causes.

“We’ve seen the Pride Game grow every year and we are proud to provide a great platform to recognise and celebrate the LGBTIQ+ community,” Liddle said.

“The Club and players are delighted that the money raised from our guernsey auction this season has gone towards two great organisations that do a lot of work throughout the LGBTIQ+ community and we hope this donation can help them to continue the meaningful work they do.”
