JACK Silvagni won’t be available for selection this weekend, but the Blues are hopeful of adding two speedsters to the fold this weekend.

Silvagni injured the posterior ligaments of his shoulder in a clutch tackle in the final moments of Saturday night’s win.

Ruling out Silvagni for this week’s clash with Port Adelaide, Director of High Performance Andrew Russell said Carlton staff were still dictating the appropriate course of action.

“We’re still gathering information at the moment to see what our plan of attack is: we will know by the end of the week what that plan is,” Russell said.

“He certainly won’t play this week.”

After he came out of the team last weekend due to illness and calf interruptions during the week, the Blues could regain recruit Zac Williams for Saturday night.

Following an interrupted week of preparation, Russell said the decision was made for Williams to not play in the win over Gold Coast.

However, he said the midfielder was likely to return, alongside the available-again David Cuningham.

“Zac didn’t have a great preparation week last week. He was sick for most of the week, he was a bit tight late in the week so we decided not to play him,” he said.

“He trained today, we expect him to train fully and be available this week.

“David has recovered really well from his concussion. He will train on his Thursday, and if he trains well and handles that session as well as we expect, then he’ll be available this week.”

Russell also confirmed that the Blues would be without Oscar McDonald for the next stretch of games, with the versatile Blue having sustained a bone stress injury in his lower back.

Russell forecast that McDonald would be unavailable for up to three months.
