Details: MCG, Saturday 22 May,1.45pm (AEST)
Broadcast: Fox Footy, AFL app, Kayo

THE GAME IN FOCUS:

The Blues will take on the Hawks in a traditional Saturday timeslot at the home of footy.

With both sides looking to rebound from their Round 9 results, the contest shapes as an arm wrestle in the search of a much-needed win.

Carlton's line-up has been bolstered by the inclusions of Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni, who will provide further attacking options alongside Coleman Medal leader Harry McKay.

A key focus for the Blues will be how they deliver the ball into their forward 50, which fell short last week despite it often being a strength of the side so far in 2021.

BLUE FOCUS:

Carlton needs to make the most of their clearance work on the weekend.

The Blues currently sit second in the league for total clearances, compared to their opponents ranked 18th: Carlton needs to continue being first to the ball and maximising its impact out of the middle.

The Hawks sit third in the league for effective disposals, so a key for the Blues will be depriving their opponents of clean possession as has so often been the Hawthorn way.

GET EXCITED ABOUT:

Jack Silvagni will be returning to the side after he was sidelined with a concussion against the Bulldogs.

Silvagni’s forward pressure and work rate is something the Blues missed last week, with his ability to create opportunities for his teammates usually ending in scoring shots.

Tom De Koning will also play his first AFL game this season, after returning from injury through the VFL.

De Koning's ruck ability and aerial prowess will be an asset for the Blues alongside Marc Pittonet, who will front up against his old club this weekend.

BLUE VIEW:

For the first time in 644 days, the Blues will be back at the MCG on a Saturday afternoon in front of their loud and loyal faithful when they take on the Hawks this weekend.

It doesn't get much better than being at the home of football in a traditional timeslot.
