CARLTON’S VFL and VFLW sides won’t be in action this weekend due to the impending circuit breaker lockdown announced earlier on Thursday morning.

The VFLW Blues were looking to give their finals chances a boost in the penultimate game of the home-and-away season against Williamstown, while the VFL side was scheduled to take on Sydney in an AFL curtain raiser on Sunday.

However, the state’s community sport restrictions apply to both VFL and VFLW competitions, meaning all games for this weekend have been postponed.

There will also be no VFL or VFLW training before the end of the restrictions, which are scheduled for Thursday 3 June at 11:59pm.

The AFL will continue to heed the advice of governments and health officials as it works through fixturing alternatives, with the three byes in the VFL competition allowing for greater flexibility.
