Carlton Football Club is proud to launch CARLTON RESPECTS, a new family violence prevention initiative promoting respect and equality.

With advice from leading family violence prevention organisation Our Watch, and the Luke Batty Foundation, the Club will raise awareness about the prevalence of family violence ahead of its Round 17 game against West Coast at the MCG.

This Sunday, Carlton players will run out in the traditional navy blue guernsey and striking orange socks; a colour widely synonymous with harmony and respect.

CEO Steven Trigg said the CARLTON RESPECTS campaign was developed to address the growing issue of family violence in the wider community.

“There are some alarming statistics around family violence,” Trigg said.

“In Victoria alone, police attend a family violence incident every eight minutes. This is simply unacceptable and we hope to send a strong message that this behaviour cannot be tolerated.

“As a football club, we understand that we are very much in the frame as social influencers. A primary prevention of family violence is through improved gender equality, a notion which aligns with our club as we strive to be leaders in this area.”

The campaign, further supported by a powerful ‘whole-of-club’ video clip, focuses on the Club’s commitment to promoting respect and equality in the wider community. Carlton’s official website,, will also host an online hub to link people within the community to mainstream support services with additional multi-lingual translations.

Over the course of the next twelve months, Carlton Football Club will also facilitate educational sessions at schools and not-for-profit organisations to promote equality and respect, with a focus amongst youth in Melbourne’s northern corridor. The community education program will be supported by corporate partners including Ikon Services, Lincoln Indicators, Modern Baking, ANZ, IOOF, Banner Asset Management, The Pratt Foundation, Reece Australia and PwC.

Proceeds from merchandise sales at Sunday’s clash at the MCG will be donated to The Luke Batty Foundation.
