David Teague spoke to the media ahead of their clash with Fremantle this Saturday.

Here is what Teague had to say about the Blues.

10:00

Teague on Sam Docherty:

"He hurt it on the weekend, I think it was in the wrestle and he just rolled back on his ankle.A low-grade syndesmosis but it’s needed surgery so he’s aiming to come back before the end of the season, but we’ll have to wait and see."

"He knew he’d hurt himself but he didn’t think it was bad and then symptomatically it didn’t really show up like a syndesmosis injury until they went and got scans. It was a bit of surprise, we weren’t expecting it. He was hobbling around and I think it’s been a bit of a trend with this is you can play out games and you feel alright and then when you cool down it gets quite sore, but unfortunately for us he’ll be unavailable for a while."

Teague on Docherty replacement:

"You hate injuries and you want to be able to play a consistent team for that cohesion and that’s probably something we haven’t been able to do too often, but it gives an opportunity and someone will step up. Particularly from a half back position we'll look to bring someone in from that area and at the moment we haven’t got a lot of guys playing in the VFL but we’ve got a few guys playing some good footy so one of those will get an opportunity."

Teague on venue change response:

"Wherever it’s at we’re comfortable, I think everyone is going to have to be pretty agile over the next period of time when it comes to games."

"Maybe slight tweaks on certain grounds but no not really, most clubs will play their way and try and get the game on their terms. Probably from the training point of view in terms of how much training we do today if it’s a Saturday game versus a Sunday game versus a Monday game depending on when you play, that’s probably where your training will change from that point of view. But in terms of how you play and how you prepare, we’ve had a little look at Freo and what they do and we need to train today in what we think we need to be really strong in to be at our best."

Teague on Fremantle:

"They’re probably another team like us that have changed their players a fair bit, they're playing similar [to when we played them]. They’re very good around the stoppages, their ability to score from stoppages is quite strong. They’ve got a deep midfield now, particularly with Fyfe if he comes back into the side. So they’ve got a lot of talent, they’re set up quite well, I think they’re coached really well and from a defensive structure point of view when they get set in their defence they’re quite strong."

"We understand we’ve had a good little record, we were looking forward to going over to Perth to be honest. We love playing in front of our fans over there and our track record in Perth in terms of the players going away and playing over there, they enjoy it. We don’t get that opportunity but hopefully we get the opportunity for some of our fans here to get to another game."

Teague on external review:

"The review started Monday from a Club point of view. As I mentioned, we’re not going to give a running commentary on it throughout the process. I’m looking forward to finding out the learnings and the findings and how we can improve as a group and that’s our aim is to grow. The three guys that we’ve met so far have been super impressive and look forward to seeing what they come up with in how we can improve and become a better club."

Teague on Adelaide win:

"We played some good footy, I think that the second quarter was something we haven’t done for a while in terms of the way we played. I thought defensively we were stronger on the weekend: our system, our ability to connect as a team defensively was the best we’ve done in a while so we’ve got to continue to grow, so it’s another opportunity to get better and we feel if we play better and we play our way the result will take care of itself."

Teague on Brodie Kemp:

He’s been coming along. He’s missed a lot of footy over the last year with a knee and then his ankle injury at the start of the year. He’s progressing well, if he keeps putting his best foot forward and keeps improving. We’ve got to make sure when players come into the senior side we want them to be in a position to play their role to get their job done and to put them in a position where they’re safe. We don’t want to throw them into the deep end when they’re not ready. So Brodie has shown some good signs but I’ve got no doubt he’s got some key areas he’s working on that he needs to continue to grow and he’ll do that, he’s training hard and he’s playing with great energy at the moment.
