The small forward from Koroit was Talor-made for Carlton, when the Blues welcomed him with pick No.45 in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft.
Recruited from the GWV Rebels where he won their best and fairest award, Byrne is a crafty and quick left footer, who put himself on the map with a five-goal performance for Vic Country against Vic Metro in his draft year.
Byrne relishes the pressure side of the game and has also shown that he can finish his work around goals, and was quick to receive congratulations from Blues Hall of Fame member Adrian Gleeson - another Carlton recruit from Koroit.
