2021 will go down as the year where Abbie McKay made her own name in the AFLW competition. After having a taste in a memorable 2019 season for the Game Changers, McKay made up for lost time last year, playing every game in 2021 after being out of the team in 2020. It was on the back of McKay’s outstanding work-rate in 2021 which reaped dividends, earning a permanent place in the Game Changers’ midfield while also yielding a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination. McKay will be just 21 years of age when the season begins: it’s clear that the best football is still in front of the second-generation Blue.
