“IT’S BEEN a bit of a rollercoaster this season… we really have stuck together.”

If there was one characteristic that shone through in Carlton’s 18-point win over GWS in enemy territory on Sunday night, it was their fight.

The Blues weathered an early physical storm from the Giants on the way to their second consecutive win, with gun midfielder Maddy Prespakis crediting her team’s ability to navigate a tricky assignment away from home.

Carlton’s ability to win the ball at the coalface (+31 contested possessions) set the tone for the night, as the Game Changers produced their highest score of the season on the way to victory No.3 for 2022.

Speaking to FOX Footy post-match, Prespakis said the ability to take home the four points was worth the bumps and bruises endured over the course of the entertaining clash.

“It’s towards the crunch time of the season and your body starts to feel it a bit. I’m pretty knackered, but credit to the girls,” Prespakis said.

“We flew over this afternoon and all we wanted to do was come here, do the job, get the win and go home — that’s exactly what we get to do.”

Prespakis was once again one of Carlton’s best performers throughout the night, amassing 20 disposals - only player of the match Gab Pound had more - as well as kicking a second-quarter goal.

For the second consecutive week, Prespakis was rotated between on-ball and half forward, taking just seven of 15 centre-bounce attendances which saw a deeper pool of Carlton midfielders rotate through.

The 2020 AFLW Best and Fairest winner said as long as they get the chance to sing the song after the game, she’s happy.

“We’ve stuck together and that’s what a good team does. We’ve got around each other even though it hasn’t been smooth sailing,” she said.

“Last week was a win, this week’s a win and hopefully we can finish the season strong and go into pre-season with our heads high.

“It’s good to see everyone smiling and it makes me happy that my teammates are happy: if they are, I am.”
