Carlton will be looking to start the back half of their season with a bang as they travel to Footscray for their Round 9 clash against the winless Bulldogs.

Sunday’s clash could prove a crucial step towards the Blues’ finals aspirations, with the side currently sitting two-and-a-half games back from the top six.

The Easter bye could not have come at a better time for Carlton as they saw their injury list grow larger with every week, however this week will see a number of stars come back into the fold.

Among those returning is vice-captain Jen Lew, who will finally get on the field in 2022 following a string of consecutive injuries which kept her out. Lew will certainly be looking to demonstrate her experience and leadership in this youthful Carlton squad.

Lily Goss will also make the trip out to Footscray after successfully recovering from her ankle injury that forced her out in Carlton’s win against Collingwood. The inside midfielder will be hoping to rediscover her great form at the start of the season.

Maddi Wilson and Esther Honybun are two key inclusion to the Blues’ forward line with the side looking to become more potent in attack. Wilson’s recovery has been impressive after she appeared to seriously injure her knee in Carlton’s loss to Hawthorn.

Thomay Nicolaou completes the impressive list of inclusions with the midfield bull looking to pick up where she left off in her first game since Round 6.

The game kicks off on Sunday at 11am at Victoria University Whitten Oval.
