Visy Environmental Ambassador Chris Judd officially launched the 2012 VISY Enviromaniacs Education Program to grade five students from St Albans Meadows Primary today.

After introducing the program, the students had their opportunity to ask Chris some hard-hitting questions about football and his role as the environmental ambassador.

Chris then handed over to three of the Carlton Football Club’s Visy ambassadors, Jeff Garlett, Jordan Russell and David Ellard who took the students through a series of educational games and environmental activities.

The Carlton Football Club, together with sustainability partner Visy, developed the innovative schools program, Enviromaniacs four years ago.

“The program was designed specifically to teach primary school students practical initiatives and actions to preserve and protect our environment,” Visy Environmental Ambassador, Chris Judd said.

“It is important for both business and the community to deliver a positive and sustained response to help the environment. Getting young people involved in a way that is both entertaining and educational through the Visy Enviromaniacs program teaches behaviour that can become part of kids everyday life with ongoing benefits for the environment.”

The one hour program, targeted to grade five and six students across Victoria, revolves around idea sharing between students and players plus interactive football activities that highlight the need for a healthy and active lifestyle.
