FOUR Blues have been named in the AFLPA 22under22 squad, recognising the best 22 players aged 22-and-under for the entirety of season seven.

Mimi Hill, Abbie McKay and Lucy McEvoy will be seeking their first selection in the final team, having previously been named in the 40-player squad, while Keeley Skepper has been named in her debut season at AFLW level.

One of the most improved players in the competition, McKay has led the Blues’ engine room, providing her side with first use through bullish contested work.

Averaging 20.7 disposals, 11.6 contested possessions, 4.8 clearances and 7.4 tackles, her best game came in Round 4 against Fremantle, recording 29 disposals, 10 clearances, eight tackles and 300 metres gained in the drawn result.

She also proved one of Carlton’s most consistent performers, tallying AFLCA votes in six games and was the highest-polling Blue overall with 27 votes.

Working in tandem with McKay, reigning Rising Star Hill has backed up her outstanding comeback season with another stellar campaign.

The Blues’ highest ball winner across the season, Hill averaged 23.2 disposals per game (10.8 contested), four clearances and 2.3 score involvements.

Polling AFLCA votes across six games, she finished just two votes shy of McKay in the overall count.

Rounding out Carlton’s nominations, Skepper made her mark in Round 4, receiving a Rising Star nomination when she picked up 14 disposals, three tackles and contributed a team-high 384 metres gained in just her third game for the Blues.

She went on to piece together a season beyond her years, averaging 10.9 disposals, 2.2 marks, 2.3 score involvements and 234.9 metres gained.
