THE Carlton Football Club has boosted its draft hand, securing two selections currently inside the top 25 of the upcoming national draft, after a trade with North Melbourne on Day 3 of the 2023 Continental Tyres Trade Period.

The Blues receive North Melbourne’s first-round selection (pick No.21) and second-round selection (No.25) in exchange for No.17 and Zac Fisher.

The trade now gives the Club two selections inside the top 25 of the draft for the first time since 2019.

Fisher played 107 games in seven seasons at IKON Park after arriving at the Club at pick No.27 in the 2016 National Draft.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said with the Club looking to add multiple players through the draft this year, this trade aligns with the Club’s strategy of refreshing its depth heading into next season.

“To have two selections inside the top 25 of the draft as it currently stands gives us a number of options as we work through the remainder of the trade period and into the national draft,” Austin said.

“We have approached this time of year with a focus to refresh our depth heading into 2024 and feel we are now in a strong position to do that.

“Zac departs the Club with lifelong friendships and we thank him for what he has contributed to our football club over the last seven years.”
