ON A DAY when there was all to play for, Carlton fell short – but its season was so much more than the final siren. 

Although the Blues missed out on the ultimate success, the turnaround from the disappointment of the 2018 season to their rebirth in 2019 instilled a massive sense of pride in Bluebaggers across the country. 

A record shattering 53,034 fans flocked to the Adelaide Oval for the Grand Final, leaving Carlton coach Daniel Harford to label it as  “one of the most significant moments in Australian football history.”

While the disappointment may linger for some time to come, there is no doubt that the Blues' appearance in Sunday's Grand Final signalled a turning point for a club which was written off by many before the season had even started.

Now, when those same people reflect on the Blues of 2019, they will instead remember a team who fought weekly with grit, determination and a 'never-say-die' attitude to cement their place in history.
