Exciting news for Carlton supporters with fan favourites Keeley Skepper and Keeley Sherar inking four-year deals with Carlton, keeping them in the Navy Blue until at least the end of 2027.

Arriving at Carlton through the 2021 AFLW Draft, Sherar has impressed from the beginning earning a Rising Star nomination in just her second career game, in season six.

After a breakout season 8, Sherar earned her maiden nomination in the 2023 All-Australian squad.

Sherar is a player fans should get excited about, she made an appearance in all 10 games this season with the Blues, ranking fifth in the league for total tackles during the home-and-away season, averaging 8.4 per match.

The 20-year-old has made a name for herself on the field with her athletic playing style and ferocious tacking making her a real threat to the opposition.

Skepper has emerged as one of Carlton’s young stars, joining the Blues in 2022 through the AFLW draft. Missing just one match this season due to a hip injury, Skepper continues to catch the eye of the competition.

Originally from Wodonga, Skepper impressed in her first year at the Club, being awarded Rookie of the Year in season seven.

She received her second Rising Star nomination to date for her dominating appearance in the Blues win in West during Round 3 where she collected 23 disposals, three goals, and had seven score involvements.

Carlton Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said that retaining two players of such elite calibre was a great result for the Club.

“We have had a lot of change this year and to have two players who we see as key parts to the long-term future of the football club is a great reflection on the trust they have in the program and what we are building here at the Blues,” Naulty said.

“Keeley [Sherar] has just really unlocked a new confidence on the field. We speak about being brave as a player and her tackle pressure alone reflects her ability to live that out. She has taken this season head-on and has emerged this season as a high-pressure midfielder.

“Keeley [Skepper] has come into her own this season. She is such a versatile player for us, with speed and agility when she is put out on the wing but also has the composure and accuracy to play up forward if we need her to.

“We have all been impressed with both their development on the field this year and respect the way they carry themselves during the week, both in training and meetings.

“Sometimes you forget how young they both are, they are well-respected and loved by their teammates and the staff here at Carlton. As well as being quality, hard-working footballers, both Keeley's are great fun to be around, they bring a lot of energy to our environment.”

“We are excited to have these two young stars stick around for the next four years, we think the Carlton family is going to enjoy seeing them both continuing to grow before their eyes.”
