AN IMPORTANT part of Carlton’s profile in the community is the Club’s flagship initiative, Carlton Respects.
The Round 19 clash with Melbourne marks the 10th annual AFL Carlton Respects Game after the program’s launch in 2016.
Raising awareness for gender equality and the prevention of violence against women, it is a cause that continues to have an impact on the foundation of the football club as a whole.
Carlton believes the only acceptable rate of violence is zero, with the Club dedicated to taking a prevention approach, being a leader in the sports industry and an ally to the sector.
Respect education plays an integral role in building a society free from violence. Through the Road to Respect school program, we engage and inspire kids to build skills to manage their emotions, ask for help, be a buddy and break down those unhelpful stereotypes.
This year, for our 10th AFL Carlton Respects Game, we are celebrating the primary schools that took part in Road to Respect in 2024.
Their school name will feature on the back of the brand-new Carlton Respects guernsey and a student representative from each school will cheer on the players as they run through the Guard of Honour.
Wearing orange - the international colour of harmony - on our guernsey and socks is just one small way the Blues are aiming to bring awareness to the importance of gender equality in helping achieve a future free from violence.
Thanks to Gold Match-Day partner Bupa, $1 will be donated to Carlton Respects for every person attending the Round 19 Carlton v Melbourne game.
