The final dress rehearsal.

Carlton AFLW has locked in its line-up for its pre-season clash against Greater Western Sydney at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.

The new-look Blues will look to build on a promising opening hit-out against Richmond last Friday night in Saturday's official practice match, which kicks off at 12:05pm.

The clash will be live streamed on carltonfc.com.au

Coming into the practice match team is veteran Darcy Vescio, who was withdrawn from last week's match sim due to illness, as well as Jess Good, who missed due to concussion protocols. Ciara Fitzgerald and Amelia Velardo are also inclusions.

Young midfielder Brooke Vickers has been withdrawn from the side after suffering a dislocated and broken wrist during today's Captain's Run in Sydney.

The Club will work through her recovery timeline next week once the side has returned to Melbourne.

AFLW senior assistant and backline coach Glenn Strachan said the Blues were relishing the opportunity to travel together and take on an interstate opponent.

"It's obviously a big part of our preparation leading into Round 1, it plays a pretty important role," he said.

"It also just provides opportunity for plenty of players to hone some of their skills that they're working on over pre-season, and hopefully it comes together in a complete performance, from a team perspective but also from individuals as well.

"Travelling is always a lot of fun, you see some different personalities or different sides of people which is always good. It's just a great chance for our group to get away a couple of weeks before Round 1."

Strachan was pleased with how the Blues' defenders have stepped up in the absence of stalwart Kerryn Peterson, who is expecting her first child later and has been placed on the inactive list.

"Every defender's been getting after their work," he said.

"Poppy Scholz stood up (against Richmond), Lou-Lou Field played a really strong game… Siofra O'Connell as well, picking the game up.

"Harriet Corner leads the way with the amount that she does…her preparation is inspirational and a lot of players follow her lead."

"I've loved Maddy Hendrie's pre-season, she's put in a lot of work and it's starting to come through. She was great against Richmond as a deep defender."

"Darcy (Vescio) coming down back is exciting. They’re a highly skilled player and we've obviously seen what they've done up forward. I'm super excited to see what they can do as a defender."

Carlton and Collingwood will open the 10th AFLW season on Thursday, August, 14 at IKON Park.
