CARLTON will unveil two AFLW debutants and one club debutant in Thursday night's season opener at IKON Park against arch rival Collingwood.

The Blues will feature a young side, fielding nine players under the age of 23 years old.

Young guns Sophie McKay and Poppy Scholz will be making their AFLW debuts, whilst Tara Bohanna is to make her Carlton debut, after previously playing for Gold Coast where she captained the side.

Erone Fitzpatrick is making her eagerly awaited return to the forward line, after suffering an ACL injury back in Round 10 of the 2023 season.

The clash will mark a special moment for both the McKay sisters, as while Sophie is making her AFLW debut, it will be Abbie's first game as Carlton captain.

A moment to be remembered in Blues history, with both players being father-daughter draft picks as they continue the lineage of the McKay family.

Inaugural Blues Darcy Vescio and Breann Harrington will be playing their 10th seasons, as they reminisce on season one of the AFLW, which all started at IKON Park.

Fellow foundation player Gab Pound won't  join Darcy and Breann on the field, due to a shin injury she sustained during the pre-season clash against GWS.

Brooke Vickers and Maria Cannon were also ruled out of Round 1 due to injury.

Carlton's three emergencies will be Lou-Lou Field, Amelia Velardo and Aisling Reidy.

Thursday's season opener will kick off from 7:15pm.
