CARLTON has announced its newest debutant for Sunday night’s clash with the Brisbane Lions.

Irish rookie Síofra O’Connell is confirmed to make her debut in this week's Round 3 clash in Brisbane, marking the  debut of the season.

O’Connell was signed last December alongside fellow Gaelic teammate Aisling Reidy to Carlton’s AFLW rookie list for the 2025 season.

Both players are originally from County Clare in Ireland, where they played Gaelic for Doora-Barefield before being scouted to join the Blues.

The 23-year old played in multiple VFLW games in the back end of the 2025 season, as she warmed up into the game of AFL, becoming known as a hard-working player who prioritises her team, with the ability to drive forward as a defender.

O’Connell utilises her height to coincide with her strength and speed, which allows her to be an agile player in the air and at ground level.

Come Sunday night, O'Connell will be making her AFL debut in Brisbane to face the Lions.

Carlton will announce its extended squad on Thursday night at 6:20pm, with final team to be confirmed on Friday at 5pm.
