Exciting small forward Jesse Motlop will continue to wear the Navy Blue No. 3 guernsey, after agreeing to a two-year contract extension with the Blues.

Adding to the side’s contest and pressure, the clever pressure forward was ranked in the top 20 in the AFL for total tackles inside 50, with an average of 3.7 tackles per game.

Regarded for this speed and flair, the forward worked on his versatility in the second half of the year, spending more time in the middle this season.

Playing in every game for the first time in his career, Motlop was one of only six players to complete the feat in the 2025 season.

Finishing the season strong, Motlop starred in the Round 24 win against Essendon, earning himself a career-high 22 disposals and a goal.

The 21-year-old was selected by the Blues with pick No.27 in the 2021 AFL draft, debuting for the Club in a Round 9 win against GWS, where he also kicked his first goal.

A proud Larrakia man from the Darwin region, Motlop is the son of Daniel Motlop, a former AFL player who played for North Melbourne and Port Adelaide.

Head of List Management Nick Austin said Motlop now had the opportunity to take his career to the next level in the coming years.

“We are happy to have Jesse continue on at Carlton for the next two years,” Austin said.

“Jesse has really grown at the football club, since stepping foot inside IKON Park he has worked hard on his forward craft as well as learning from the midfield group as he develops all elements of his game.

“The progression he has shown as he now enters his fifth season has been very pleasing, he has built solid foundations to further progress from here, and we look forward to seeing him use this opportunity to take his career to the next level.”
