Dayna Finn (centre) and Harriet Cordner (half back) have tonight earned their maiden All-Australian blazers for their outstanding 2025 season.
It is Cordner’s first All-Australian blazer after being named in the squad three times throughout her 10-year career.
Arriving at Carlton in 2023 with a wealth of experience, Cordner has been a consistent star for the Blues, playing in every game since she arrived.
A force to be reckoned with down back, Cordner has developed into one of the best defenders in the league, spending 99.8% of time on ground this season.
The 33-year-old leads Carlton and the league with nearly 10 intercept possessions and four intercept marks per game, most recently producing 13 intercept possessions in Saturday’s preliminary final.
From a notable football family, the Cordner's have further etched their family lineage into AFL and AFLW history, just 79 years after her grandfather, Don Cordner, earned a Brownlow Medal.
A natural athlete, Finn moved across from County Mayo, Ireland, in 2023, receiving her first-ever squad nomination and All-Australian blazer just a mere three seasons later.
Standing up in big moments, Finn collected 23 disposals, two goals, four score involvements and laid five tackles in the side's preliminary final loss against Brisbane on Saturday.
Coming over from a non-contact sport in Gaelic football, Finn has truly embraced the demanding physicality of AFL, leading Carlton’s average contested possessions (11.1).
Known for her ability to run and carry the ball, Finn is a true midfield weapon and plays a pivotal role in bringing the ball forward, evident on Saturday, where she had 409 meters gained, more than anyone in the game.
Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said the Club could not be prouder of Finn and Cordner.
“Harriet and Dayna have been such reliable and consistent players for our side this year and are very deserving to be named in the team,” Naulty said.
“There is no person or player who holds professional standards higher than Harriet. She is such an amazing role model for our younger players, and we are thrilled she is being recognised with this honour.
“For Dayna to pick up a sport in three seasons and to have the true impact she does is a credit to her dedication to learn and to constantly commit herself to working hard and going above and beyond.
“It is an incredible achievement and one that they are both deserving of, for all the hard work and effort they put in.”
